Disclaimer

The calculators and guides on Solaxyra are provided free for general information and planning. Please read this disclaimer before relying on any result.

Results Are Estimates Only

Every calculator produces an estimate based on the figures you enter and the assumptions shown on the page. Real outcomes depend on many factors a calculator cannot see, including:

  • Your location, roof or mounting position, shading and local weather in a given year.
  • The actual performance, age and condition of panels, batteries, inverters and appliances.
  • How and when you use energy in your home or vehicle.
  • Your tariff, contract terms, export arrangements and future price changes.
  • Installation quality, cable runs and site conditions.

Use the results to understand options and compare figures, not as a guarantee of output, savings, runtime or payback.

Not Financial, Legal or Electrical Advice

Nothing on this site is financial, investment, tax, legal or professional electrical advice. Savings, payback and return figures are illustrations based on your inputs. Before you buy equipment, sign a contract or change your tariff, consider getting written quotes and, where appropriate, advice from a suitably qualified professional.

Electrical Safety

Electricity can cause fatal shocks, fires and serious injury. Calculators for current, cable size, voltage drop, fuses, breakers, inverters and batteries are intended to help you understand the numbers and prepare questions for a professional. They are not installation instructions.

  • Any work on mains electrics, including new circuits, cable sizing, fuses and circuit protection, must be carried out or checked by a qualified electrician.
  • In the UK, use a registered electrician. Electrical installation work must meet BS 7671, the IET Wiring Regulations, and some work must be notified under the Building Regulations.
  • Home batteries and solar systems connected to your home’s wiring must be installed or checked by a qualified installer or electrician, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Outside the UK, follow your national wiring rules and use a suitably qualified and, where required, registered professional.

Plug-in Solar

In the UK, plug-in solar must only be used with a certified kit whose inverter is listed on the Energy Networks Association G98 type test register, plugged into a suitable fixed socket and used within the limits set out in government guidance. Do not modify a kit, plug it into an extension lead or adaptor, or connect several kits beyond the permitted output. Rules differ between countries, so check the regulations where you live before buying or using a kit.

Prices and Rules Change

Energy prices, price cap rates, export payments, grants, equipment costs and regulations change over time. Default values shown in a calculator were checked on the date stated on that page, but they may be out of date by the time you read it. Always replace example values with your own tariff, quote or current official figure.
